The overall aim of the Advanced Art & Design programme is to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work independently in a fine art/design context or to progress to higher education and training.

1 year full-time, September to May, 3 days per week.
Entry Requirements
• Level 5 QQI award in Art or relevant experience
• Interview-applicants must bring a selection of their best work to include drawing from observation, 3D work, craft work, photography and sketchbooks
• Mature applicants welcome
• Applicants may be accepted without meeting formal entry qualifications.

The overall aim of the Advanced Art & Design programme is to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work independently in a fine art/design context or to progress to higher education and training. This course is designed for those who want to develop a professional practice in the visual arts. It encourages creativity, increases skills and develops self-belief. By the end of the year students will have a collection of work complied through a series of projects which they will have the opportunity to showcase at the annual Art & Photography exhibition.
The course is suitable for:
• Learners who have achieved a QQI level 5 Certificate in Art and would benefit from a second year to complete their portfolio preparation for entry to Institutes of Technology and Art Colleges.
• Mature learners who have not achieved a formal qualification, but can demonstrate the levels of knowledge, skill and competence associated with QQI Level 5 Certificate in Art.
• Artists who have achieved a degree or diploma in Art and have been unable to practice their work for some time. This course offers a safe, supportive, and creative environment to develop their practice and kick start their careers again.
