Entry Requirements

Students who wish to achieve the full Level 5 Certificate on a part-time basis must successfully complete all mandatory modules & one elective choice.

These modules must also be completed in order for a student to be eligible for Progression to other Teagasc Horticultural Courses.

Careers / Further progression

By taking other Level 5 modules, students may be able to build towards a full award of QQI Certificate in Horticulture.

The course will be offered one day per week over a 15 week period. Skills learned throughout the year will be assessed at regular intervals.

The course is designed for anyone interested or involved in the planning and building of gardens, or the care of plants. It is also suited for people who are currently pursuing careers in the landscape sector, or for those who feel that they would like to explore this particular area of horticulture.

Describe structural components and construction details
Demonstrate pre-building skills using safe work practices
Construct hard landscape features
Plant a range of plants from plans
Establish a lawn using seed and turf
Devise an annual landscape maintenance programme
