Infection Prevention & Control online module is to equip you with the knowledge, skill and competence to prevent and control infection within the health services area.
The aim of Palliative Care Support is to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and competency to deliver care to a person who is dying or has a life limiting diagnosis and their family in a holistic way ensuring dignity and privacy.

Entry Requirements

The minimum age is 17 Years. All learners must have a good standard of English.

Garda Vetting
Garda Vetting is a legal requirement under the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016 for the vetting of persons carrying out work with children or vulnerable persons.

Students must complete the Garda Vetting process before commencing work placement.

Students who have spent more than 6 months living outside of Ireland will need to provide a copy of their Police Clearance Certification for all international addresses that they have lived at, before starting placement.

Palliative Care Support and Infection Prevention & Control

A flexible online approach developed to allow you to learn at your own pace. through pre-recorded lectures and live online sessions, access to associated reading material with tutor support available.

The Level 5 Infection Prevention & Control online module is to equip you with the knowledge, skill and competence to prevent and control infection within the health services area. A skills demonstration is used to assess a wide range of practical-based learning outcomes including practical skills and knowledge. A skills demonstration will require you to complete a task or series of tasks that demonstrate a range of skills.

-To develop a better understanding of the basic principles of infection control and their application in the workplace.
-To enable students to develop an awareness of the essential role played by infection control and their responsibility towards ensuring best evidence based practice in their multidisciplinary healthcare team.
-To facilitate students to apply standard precautions in relation to infection control
-To explore the development of nosocomial infections, in terms of prevention, signs and symptoms, treatment and ways of managing an outbreak
-To enable learners to provide a safe environment for staff, clients and any other people who may enter the workplace.
