This course is scheduled to run on Tuesdays 6.00 pm -9.30 pm and Saturdays 9.00 am -2.00 pm
Entry Requirements
Minimum
• Applicants must be 16+ years of age on entry to the course.
• Leaving Cert, LCVP, LCA or QQI Level 4 Major Award is essential.
• Mature applicant route available for applicants aged 23+.
• Competent written and spoken English (CEFR B1 or Higher).
• Non-EU/EEA applicants must have permission to work in Ireland.
Additional
• Genuine interest in photography.
• Good level of computer skills.
• Have the ability to work well within a team.

Graduates who successfully complete this course may apply for entry to the Digital Content Production courses or progress into self-employment or employment.

The purpose of this course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to research and use a range of advanced digital photography techniques to include capture and post-production imaging.

What will I study ?
Explain the inter-relationship between the theory and practice of photography
Outline the role of digital photography as a contemporary medium of communication
Explain the functions of the principal components of a digital camera and or digital SLR camera
Describe the functions and uses of camera lenses and camera accessories
Explain key elements in a computer workstation layout
Expose photographs correctly by controlling shutter speed, aperture, ISO and white balance
Apply the correct digital editing tools and practices to produce high-quality final images
Experiment with various elements of composition
Illustrate individual creativity through the practice of photography
Save and store images appropriately
Construct a portfolio of work suitable for professional presentation
Work independently in a disciplined professional manner
Practice time management in completing work
Make informed critical judgment of completed work.
