Minimum
• Applicants must be 16+ years of age on entry to the course.
• Junior Certificate standard of education or equivalent.
• Applicants with relevant work experience will also be considered.
• Competent written and spoken English (CEFR B1 or Higher).
• Non-EU/EEA applicants must have permission to work in Ireland.

Additional
• Passionate about boat building, boatyards and marine engineering.
• Good hand-eye co-ordination.
• Ability to measure and calculate materials.
• Willing and able to work outdoors for long periods.

This course is aimed at the commercial side of the marine industry and is tailored towards the servicing and maintenance of commercial fishing boat.

The course has been designed for learners who work or want to work in the marine engineering and boatbuilding sector. It will allow learners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Marine engineering.

The successful completion of the Marine Engineering Traineeship, enables applicants to source employment in the marine sector- specifically in servicing and maintaining commercial fishing boat.
