Entry Requirements

• Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English. Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway. Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/ EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners). *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.

• Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.

• Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

• The traineeship has allowed past students gain confidence and commence or return to higher education opportunities. Some past students have returned to higher education as mature students to both universities in Cork. Past students have also completed level 6 certification in the Further Educations colleges in Cork.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The traineeship has allowed past students to secure employment in the Irish healthcare sector; one of the largest employers in Ireland. Past students have secured employment in public and private hospitals, private medical practices, private consultant clinics, nursing homes, medical insurance companies, mobility aid providers and more

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work independently and under supervision providing administration services and support in a medical administration office context and or to progress to higher education and training

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Work Practice Placement is offered in medical hospital environments. The placement is sourced by the tutors. The duration of the placement is for a minimum of 8 weeks; with the opportunity to extend this placement if mutually agreeable by student and work placement host.
