This postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Effectiveness will enable participants to focus on the skillset to support plans and lead effective change by developing the skills to close the gap between intention and implementation for workforce planning. The aim of this programme is to develop an understanding and appreciation of management’s role and the knowledge, skills and abilities required within the context of workforce management. The learner will predominately use SETU Carlow’s Virtual Learning Environment to complete all lessons. The course will explore various facets of organisational leadership. It will also cover the topic of change management, the importance of professional development planning, stakeholder management and the importance of governance with a focus on contracts and flexibility.

On successful complete of this course, learners will be able to;

Develop a systematic knowledge and understanding of the role of a leader in bringing about change and communicating workforce issues.

Develop a critical awareness of leadership styles and roles needed to lead change. Develop a critical awareness of methods and tools for self-evaluation and PDP.

Develop an in-depth knowledge of the transversal skills required to manage the resourcing challenges, by drawing on systems, tools and methods for improved communication and influence.

Develop skills to be more proactive in managing one’s workforce, by developing skills to gather, interpret and analyse appropriate data relevant to the challenges of succession planning. Developing transversal and people management skills.

Decipher and develop appropriate change models and methods for integrating the views of stakeholders.

Employ a range of transferable skills in leading and initiating proactive workforce management. Developing methods for project managing Workforce planning initiatives.

Build a reflective approach to self-evaluation and leadership effectiveness. Embedding a proactive philosophy (a mind-set by developing ‘habits of thinking and analysis’ (CIPD, 2018)) and approach to the challenges of demand and supply of employees.

Developing a systematic understanding of how an equitable approach to WFP has an impact on employees and the wider society.
