Course Description:
The improvers course is ideal for those who feel they have a good grasp of the spoken language and would like to polish their grammar skills. It will provide an opportunity to improve conversational Irish. The Irish class will have a specific focus on the sean fhocail “Beatha teanga í a labhairt” which means “the life of a language is in the spoken word.” All participants will be encouraged to speak and chat as Gaeilge.

My name is Síle Ní Ghallchoir. I am working in a post primary school on the Northside of Dublin. I am from the Gaeltacht region of Donegal. The main objective is to instil confidence in you to speak Gaeilge with ease.

Week 1. Introducing myself and others.
Week 2: An Ghaeltacht and the different dialects
Week 3: Talking about my family, describing people
Week 4: Place-names and their meaning
Week 5: The weather and sean fhocáil
Week 6: The possessive adjective
Week 7 : Holidays with a focus on the past tense
Week 8 : Work life with a focus on the present tense
Week 9 : Plans for the weekend with a focus on the future tense
Week 10: Folklore and stories from the past
