Keyworker - Foundation Skills - Applied Social Studies
KEYWORKER – FOUNDATION SKILLS is a one-year QQI L5 course for those seeking to develop a career path in the essential role of KEYWORKER. Key working is a core role in the provision of individualised care to service users empowering them to be the drivers of their care planning, thereby facilitating them to achieve their own goals and developmental milestones. Key working is used throughout the social care sector to motivate service users to identify positive goals and improve their quality of life. This course will act as a foundational pathway to Higher Education to achieve a QQI Level 7/8 degree in a related area.

Entry Requirements
• Age: Candidates must be 17 years or older before course commencement. Mature students are particularly welcome
• Academic: Students should have completed the Leaving Certificate, LCA or equivalent. Applicants may be interviewed.
• Recognition of Prior Learning will be applied to mature students (those who are older than 23 years before course commencement) and those who have completed their post primary education outside the Republic of Ireland.
• Candidates are required to submit a written Personal Statment (200- 300 words) in which they discuss their reasons for applying for this programme, before interview.
• Download the Personal Statment and the Reference form to be returned to Liberties College Admissions Office, Bull Alley Street, Dublin 8.

All full-time day courses are €50. This is a non-refundable registration charge.
Students undertaking any full time Further Education course may apply for a means tested maintenance grant. Application forms are available from www.susi.ie. Students from designated disadvantaged partnership areas may be eligible for financial assistance towards course charges.
