Entry Requirements

Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.

Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.

Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

Financial Support
You may qualify for financial support during you course.
BTEA (Back to Education Allowance): if in receipt of a social welfare payment for 6 months prior to the course starting – speak to your local DSP – social welfare office to see if you qualify for BTEA. Medical Card holders, VTOS recipients, SUSI Grant recipients and BTEA recipients all benefit from a reduction in fees.

Our advice is to start your enquiries early to find out about your entitlements to financial support as a student. Some financial supports may also be available for childcare if you qualify under BTEA or VTOS, please as us for more information if this could apply to you.

This programme will allow the candidate obtain a pre-nursing qualification. It is designed to give the candidate the practical skills and knowledge necessary to enter employment as Healthcare assistants in Hospitals and Nursing Homes/Day Care Centres/Community Centres/Agencies or in the field of Paramedics. Alternatively successful candidates may pursue further study through the Higher Education Links Scheme in the UK. Candidates may access careers in Nursing, Midwifery and the Paramedics field.
