Minimum Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate: O6/H7 in 5 subjects or Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4 Equivalent qualifications will be considered. Mature applicants who have relevant industry experience and may not meet the above requirements are welcome to apply.

Progression Opportunities
Graduates may progress to the QQI Level 6 Social Studies or BTEC Social Care Diploma in Inchicore College or other FET colleges.
QQI 5M4468 Community Health Services major award may be used to apply to the CAO through the Higher Education Links Scheme to a broad range of courses across the Technological Universities and Universities including Social Studies, Social Care, Social Science, Psychology and Criminology, Sociology, Politics, Youth and Community Work.

About this course
The scope of Social Studies as an area of study is vast. So, this course aims to introduce you to the basics which will hopefully ignite and motivate you to pursue a career or further study in one of its many career areas.
You will learn about individual human development, culture and diversity, the formation of our beliefs, values and our personal identity, how groups and institutions influence people’s everyday lives, addiction studies, power, authority, criminality and governance from historical to contemporary times.
The course will suit you if you wish to work with children or young people, older people, and marginalised groups in society.
Graduates can go on to study Community Development, Sociology, Psychology, Childcare and Youthwork, Political and Social Sciences
