This course is suitable for people who want to work in the care environment, e.g. a residential care centre or day care facility. It is also suitable for those already working in this environment but wish to obtain certification.
Course Content:
Learners who successfully complete this module will:
- Understand the concept of intellectual disability and its contexts.
- Be familiar with national and local models of services for people
with intellectual disability and their families.
- Demonstrate good work practices in the provision of holistic care for people with intellectual disability and their families
- Be able to meet the full range of needs of people with intellectual disability in a variety of settings and across the full lifespan.
Assignment 60%, Exam 40%.
