This programme introduces students to the topical and developing area of nutrition and dietetics. By combining theory and practice it is aimed to give students broad based, relevant knowledge in this vast area of study. This course is often used by learners as a preparatory course for progression to third level.

Entry Requirements

- Leaving Certificate or equivalent.

- Applicants with an interest in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics who may not have completed any formal education but who have the ability to successfully participate on the programme

- Applicants who are seeking a new career direction or are unemployed and wish to re-train

- Applicants will be asked for one written reference, copy EU Passport or GNIB card or Irish Residence Permit or Labour Market Permission letter

- For applicants whose first language is not English, evidence of English language proficiency may be required. If appropriate, Whitehall College of Further Education will conduct an English language assessment.

Careers / Further progression

Progression/Employment
Students seeking employment in the nutrition and dietetics area e.g. health food outlets, or outlets in specialist nutrition. Graduates may also be eligible to apply for places in Third Level Colleges through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

PLC Maintenance Grants

Payment of this grant is subject to Susi receiving confirmation from the college that the student is registered and in attendance on the course in respect of which the student has been awarded the grant.
