All applicants for the Teacher Education Access Programme must have completed the Leaving Certificate and must have passed at least three subjects in the Leaving Certificate at either higher or ordinary level, including Mathematics, at the time of application.

Applicants who may not have the minimum two H5 grades and one H4 grade (Irish) required for the B Ed programme can opt to take Gaeilge to Honours Leaving Cert level through the TEAP. However, such applicants must note that there is also a minimum H5 honours requirement in two subjects at Leaving Cert for the B Ed Programme, and they must have these grades either at the time of making an application for the TEAP or must be in the process of obtaining these grades in the Leaving Cert before June 2023.

Options to study:

Gaeilge is offered in MIC, as part of the TEAP Programme
Mathematics or other Leaving Certificate subjects are available within the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (depending on numbers)

Please Note: We accept QQI Level 5 Mathematics 5N 1833 for entry to the B Ed Mature Competition. A merit grade (65-79%) obtained in the QQI Level 5 exam can be considered equivalent to the minimum entry grade required in Mathematics.
