Blended learning will apply and course will begin with Theory Zoom Classes.

Courses are evening, weekend and part-time with a blended learning approach, some theory classes via zoom and or recorded. Notes for classes can be accessed via Media platform and or the College website.

Accreditation for Prior Learning. (APL) Will be reviewed at the start of the course and students whom this may apply will be advised to sign up a form re: same There is a fee for same.

Option 1: Full payment with application form €1450

Option 2: Deposit of €600 with application form and €800 on first day of course.

Option 3: Deposit €450 with application form and 4 payments of each €250.

Option 4: As arranged with Accounts Department.

Application Procedure
1. Return the completed application form to the College office.

2. Send the correct Deposit as per course or the deposit that has been agreed with the college. Courses places are only reserved on payment of the deposit.

3. Deposits will be returned if student is unsuccessful in obtaining a place on their chosen course.

4. Once accepted on the course your deposit is non- refundable.

5. Early application is advised as classes are small to allow for individual attention.

6. Interviews where, deemed necessary are held at a mutually agreed time.

This new exciting course covers the ITEC syllabus. It enables the therapist to gain practical and theoretical skill necessary to work as a Sports Massage Therapist. During the course the learners will develop the knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning the practice of Sports Massage Therapy, including Structural and Functioning Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Classification of sports injuries and the stages of healing. This New exciting course is divided into 5 units. A brief synopsis of syllabus is below. Sports massage is often referred to as soft tissue manipulation.

Synopsis of Syllabus
1. Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage: All the major and minor systems of the body studied.

2. Principles of Health and Fitness: this module provides an overview of the components of fitness and reviews the effects of exercise on the body systems. This will help the therapist when setting up a treatment plan for the individual. Lectures include healthy eating for prevention, growth repair and injury recovery.

3. Professional Practice in Sports Massage: the learner reviews the current legislation required in Sports Massage, best practice in the clinic room and in a mobile clinic. Consultation procedures, code of ethics and red and yellow flags reviewed.

4. Understanding the Principal of Soft Tissue Dysfunction: This new unit reviews injuries acute and chronic, soft tissue injuries and dysfunction. Grades of injuries for sprains, strains, fractures, cartilage damage and contusions are outlined. Posture deformity, impaired ROM, and the process of tissue repair helps the therapist to develop a treatment plan for the individual athlete.

5. Sports Massage Treatments: The origin of sports massage is reviewed. The fundamentals of sports massage from a theoretical and practical application; pre-competition, post- competition, inter-competition, intra-competition, and maintenance is studied. The basic movement of sports massage: Effleurage, Petrissage, Tapotement, Friction, Connective Tissue Massage (CTM) and their practical application.

6. Award in Infection Prevention ( UIP4) required to be completed during the course. This is a compulsory element. APL applies.
